Overview

What Statistics does

Statistics is a background system with no module to place. It records kills, deaths, shots, hits and vehicle use for the ALiVE War Room website, and sends them to the new War Room on alivemod.com when a dedicated server runs the War Room test server mod (@alive_wr), with the ALiVE Data module placed and its Database Source on Local. Without that mod nothing is recorded. The part that works is the chat kill feed: set Enable Chat Kill Feed on the ALiVE Data module to Group or Side, and player deaths, kills by players and vehicles players destroy are announced to the whole side (Side), or only in the group chat of the player involved (Group).

Capabilities

What it handles

Event recording

Records events for the War Room

Can capture kills and deaths, vehicle and aircraft losses, shots fired by players, hits, incoming missiles, getting in and out of vehicles, diving and landings. It only records on a dedicated server with the War Room test server mod (@alive_wr) loaded.

Web service reporting

Sends data to the War Room

What it records goes from the server to the War Room on alivemod.com through @alive_wr, signed with the server's key. Each event waits on the server's disk until alivemod.com takes it, so the mission never waits on the connection.

Kill feed messages

In-mission kill messages

With Enable Chat Kill Feed on the ALiVE Data module set to Side, player deaths, kills by players and vehicles players destroy are announced to everyone on that side, once each. Set to Group, they only show in the group chat of the player involved. A player killed by another player also gives the killer's side a Kill Shot. It works without the War Room.

Opt-out control

Disable Stats setting

Disable Stats on the ALiVE Data module stops recording even when the War Room can be reached. It doesn't affect the kill feed.

Recent work

What's changed lately

  • Kill Shots for the right playerA player killed by another player now gives the killer's side a Kill Shot as well as the Man Down. A player gunning a vehicle that an AI commands now gets the Kill Shot, with the vehicle's weapon named instead of their own rifle. A player wrecking the vehicle they were in is no longer announced as a kill.
  • The chat kill feed works againThe kill feed only ran while statistics were recording, and recording stops whenever the War Room can't be reached, which is always now. It now runs on its own, and each player on the side sees each message once. Missions without the ALiVE Data module no longer throw script errors from statistics, which now start switched off.
  • Mostly maintenance, plus a menu-access fixMost recent commits touching this module were internal cleanup: standardising how its menu writes debug log lines, and normalizing its admin menu definition and Eden editor attributes to match the rest of ALiVE's modules. Two changes did reach players: a fix so the ALiVE menu opens on whatever key it's bound to (this module's admin menu is only reachable through that menu), and a full set of Spanish strings added for it.

Status

Where it stands

Delivered

Recording, on the War Room test

Records on a dedicated server with the War Room test server mod (@alive_wr) loaded and sends its events to alivemod.com. Without that mod, or without the ALiVE Data module, it stays off.

Kill feed announcements

Short in-mission messages for player deaths, kills by players and vehicles players destroy, whenever Enable Chat Kill Feed is on.

Disable Stats setting

A single setting on the ALiVE Data module lets a mission maker turn off event recording for a mission.

Testing

How you can help

Set Enable Chat Kill Feed to Side on the ALiVE Data module. Kill an enemy, destroy an enemy vehicle and get yourself killed: each should give one message in side chat. Side chat only shows for someone carrying a radio, so keep one in your gear. In a hosted or dedicated game, check another player on your side sees the same messages once. Set it to None and nothing should appear. In a mission without the ALiVE Data module, get in and out of a vehicle and fire its weapon; the log should show no script errors from statistics. On a dedicated server with the War Room test server mod (@alive_wr) and Database Source on Local, the server log should say War Room link found with Statistics on; join at mission start, kill a few enemies, and check the log has no line starting ALiVE War Room: could not send.

Changelog

Updates to this page

  • 2026-11-03
Statistics records again on a dedicated server running the War Room test server mod (@alive_wr): kills, deaths, shots and vehicle use go to the new War Room on alivemod.com, signed with the server's key. Players in from the start of the mission are recorded too. Without that mod it stays off, as before.
  • 2026-10-10
A player killed by another player gives the killer's side a Kill Shot as well as the Man Down.
  • 2026-10-09
The kill feed credits a player gunning under an AI commander, names the vehicle weapon they used, and no longer announces a player crashing their own vehicle.
  • 2026-09-25
The chat kill feed, set on the ALiVE Data module, announces kills again.
  • 2026-09-25
Each player on the side sees each kill feed message once, whichever machine the kill happened on.
  • 2026-09-25
A mission without the ALiVE Data module no longer throws script errors when a vehicle is hit or destroyed, or a player gets in or out of one or fires its weapon.
  • 2026-08-06
Page corrected: this is not a module you place. Recording is started by the ALiVE Data module, which also carries the setting that turns it off.
