ALiVE.OS · ALiVE 3 Development
The markers ALiVE puts on your map, and how it keeps their names from printing over each other.
Reference
ALiVE 3 is in active development. This briefing describes work in progress, and the behaviour it covers is subject to change as testing continues. Check the changelog at the foot of the page for what has moved recently.
Overview
ALiVE marks the map for you as you play, and writes the names of its own markers itself: each name goes in the first free spot beside its marker, so it never prints over another name or another marker's icon. If there's no room close by, the name moves a little further out with a short line back to its marker. FOBs always keep their names; a rally point or task name with nowhere to go waits until you zoom in. Rally points and FOBs use pins in the same style as the Task Pins: Arma's own icon on your side's NATO frame.
The markers for tasks have their own page: Task Pins.
Colours
Settings
Each player chooses for themselves in Addon Options (the CBA settings window), under ALiVE > Game. Tidy map labels turns the name layout on or off; off shows names the way Arma draws them. The ALiVE rally, FOB, hub and support unit pins show when Tidy map labels is on and Map pins and markers is set to ALiVE pins, the default (Arma default gives you Arma's flags). A Map pin opacity (%) slider in the same group, from 20 to 100, fades the pins while their names stay solid.
Places
Markers for a place on the map, with the module that puts them there.
| Map marker | Marker | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
![]() | Rally pointRally Points | Your group's rally point, where you can respawn or regroup. Its name is in yellow. |
![]() | FOBPlayer FOBs | A forward operating base your side holds, named in your side's colour. A FOB that is also a rally point says "(rally point)" after its name. A FOB type with its own marker keeps that marker. |
![]() | Logistics HubLogistics Hub | A working hub your side holds, with its name, or Logistics Hub and its grid. Each side sees only its own; a hub that's down loses its pin. |
![]() | Support unitCombat Support | Each helicopter, plane, gun battery and ground vehicle you can call on, with its callsign beside it, on every map including the tablet's. The pin follows the unit and goes when it's destroyed. |
