ALiVE.OS · ALiVE 3 Development
In-game tools for the server admin: teleport, ghost mode, unit marking and quick access to every other ALiVE module's admin menu.
In development · ALiVE 3
ALiVE 3 is in active development. This briefing describes work in progress, and the behaviour it covers is subject to change as testing continues. Check the changelog at the foot of the page for what has moved recently.
Overview
Admin Actions gives the server admin, or a singleplayer host, a set of in-game tools reachable through a menu (opened with the ALiVE keybind), rather than through scripts or the debug console. It adds an "Admin Actions" entry to that menu automatically, alongside a "Module Settings" hub that links out to the admin-facing menus of any other ALiVE modules present in the mission. The module itself has no visible object in the mission and no settings of its own; it runs in the background and only remembers whether you've switched Ghost or Teleport on.
Every action gated behind this module checks whether the current player is recognised as a server admin (or has debug console access), so regular players do not see these options.
Capabilities
Toggle Ghost mode to make yourself invisible, so AI (and other players) cannot see you, use Teleport to click anywhere on the map to jump there yourself, or use the separate Teleport Units entry to pick another unit on the map and send it to a new spot.
Places colour-coded markers over all active units, plus units that exist in the mission but have not spawned in yet, for about 30 seconds so you can spot what is where.
Creates ALiVE profiles for any units or vehicles placed in the mission that are not already tracked, so they behave correctly with the rest of ALiVE.
Shows every AI commander's objectives and installations on the map for about 40 seconds before they fade, useful for checking what the AI sees. It only appears once an AI Commander is in the mission.
Available to a recognised server admin, in singleplayer, or whenever the mission itself grants console access.
Links out to CQB, IED, Profile System, Civilian Population, Player persistence, Statistics, and Persistent Data submenus. Each one only shows if that module is placed in the mission, and Player persistence also needs persistence switched on.
Opens the Player FOBs permissions window from anywhere, so an admin can change who may dismantle, recycle at or rename FOBs without standing at one. It only shows when a Player FOBs module is in the mission, and the change holds until the mission restarts.
How to use it
Recent work
Status
Ghost, Teleport, Mark Units, Profile Non-Profiled Units and the Debug Console entry are all present in the menu and functional, matching what their tooltips describe. Show OPCOM Installations joins them only once an AI Commander is in the mission.
The settings submenu correctly shows or hides links to other ALiVE modules' admin menus depending on whether those modules are placed in the mission, including the restored link to the Persistent Data submenu.
If an admin enables Ghost or Teleport and then leaves, those states are not automatically cleared. This is a known, deliberate gap rather than a bug, since automatically undoing it could interfere with the mission.
Testing
There is no Admin Actions module to place. It starts by itself whenever ALiVE runs. In-game as an admin, open the ALiVE menu with the configured key, go into Admin Actions, and try each action: Mark Units should flash markers over units for about 30 seconds, Ghost/Teleport should toggle and let you click the map, Profile Non-Profiled Units should run without errors, and Module Settings should list only the other ALiVE modules actually placed in the mission. A non-admin player should not see the Admin Actions or Module Settings entries at all.
Spotted a problem? Please report it on the ALiVE issue tracker on GitHub, with the map, rough location and what the units were doing so it can be reproduced.
