Not available
ALiVE 3 is in active development. This briefing describes work in progress, and the behaviour it covers is subject to change as testing continues. Check the changelog at the foot of the page for what has moved recently.
Overview
Quick Start is not available and there is nothing for a tester to try. It is described here so that nobody spends time hunting for it. The intention was a setup convenience: rather than placing separate modules for AI skill, civilian population, ambient civilians, military and civilian placement, the command AI, close quarters battle, headquarters and combat support, a mission maker would place one module and get sensible defaults for all of them. That was never finished. The module is hidden from the editor, its startup is switched off, and the code behind it cannot run as written: it asks the game for a module class that does not exist, refers to a variable that was never created, and calls two functions that are not in the mod at all. Roughly half of the settings on its panel are read by nothing. It has been in this state since ALiVE was first opened up, so nothing has broken here, and no mission has ever depended on it.
Capabilities
Every capability once described for this module, one-module setup, AI skill defaults, civilian population and ambient civilian settings, is unavailable. Place the individual modules you need instead; each has its own page here.
Recent work
Status
Nothing here works today. Making one-module setup a reality means writing it rather than repairing it, and it is the highest risk thing in the mod to get wrong, because a module that places other modules on your behalf can quietly reshape an entire mission. No decision has been taken either way.
Testing
There is nothing to test. The module does not appear in the editor and cannot be placed, and no part of it runs during a mission. If you have seen a Quick Start module referred to anywhere else, that reference is out of date.
