Vilayer Server Issues

  1. 8 years ago

    Hello,

    I've been trying to get persistence working on our server for several days now. We've tracked the issue to an issue with the IP or Groupname, according to the server rpt file. Reading the file in the @aliveserver folder hasn't given us any result, other than confirming that we are having issues with the IP. I have gotten the aliveserver.log from vilayer, but I think it's not the right one or its not recording correctly, as other logs I've looked at seem to provide much more information. If I need to look in a particular place for the rest of the information, please let me know.

  2. Make sure you have debug turned on in the ALiVE data module.

    Group name is 8th SFG correct?

    I assume you've double-checked your server's public IP (if you have >1 interface on server make sure you are using the one Arma is assigned to) with what the War Room is reporting? Sorry for the somewhat obvious questions but they must be asked ;)

    Debug has been turned on in both the base ALiVE module and the data module.

    The group name has been set to 8th SFG. As for the IP, the one I get in the ACPLAYER is 208.115.226.238 for connection info. When I ask vilayer if there is any other IP that could be being used, they say that this is the only IP it would be using. Not sure how true that is. I have followed the advice I've seen in other threads and reinstalled the @aliveserver mod, as well as replacing the data module in the mission itself.

    As for the questions, I'd rather them be asked. I'd rather this be some silly error on my part, rather than an issue with the server itself.

  4. That aliveserver.log doesn't look like the right file as you mentioned. The plugin log has a date stamp from yesterday while the aliveserver.log is dated May 17th 2015.

    This log is found in the @aliveserver mod folder with this format:
    Aliveplugin-datestamp.log

  5. The only files I see in the @aliveserver mod folder is a aliveplugin_datestamp.txt file. Are there supposed to be .log files there as well? The .log was supplied by vilayer, but had a bunch of other servers .rpt files come with it as he zipped the entire folder, so that may explain why there is a difference in the date.

    Updated .rpt and aliveplugin.txt. Both of these files should be from today.

    ```###### HandleMessage - StartALiVE ######
    [2015-10-20 10:30:06] [error] Error: You are note authorized to access ALiVE War Room with this account. Check IP and Groupname.```
  7. So I know for sure that the group name is correct. Do any of the ALiVE logs happen to log the IP address that attempts to reach the War Room? I haven't been able to find any mention of an IP in the logs that I have, but when I look around the forum and at other logs I see some that do log an IP address.
    What IP address do you use to connect to your server? Does it match the one in the War Room?
  9. 208.115.226.238 is the IP we use to connect to the server, and it is the one that I have in the War Room.
    http://alivemod.com/api/authorise?group=8th%20SFG&ip=208.115.226.238
    returns true.
    Hmmm.
  11. If it helps, the map we are running is Sangin. Not sure if that would have any effect on the persistence, but I'm not sure what else it could be. Vilayer keeps telling me that is the only IP the server could be communicating on, but I've talked to some people that the IP it actually contacted the War Room on was different. I'm trying to figure out if there is some log somewhere that would log that IP for me to see, either in a server .rpt or an ALiVE log.
    You need to replace alive modules in the mission to avoid RPT spam.
    IP looks fine.
    I'll continue to look at it. It might be an issue with the white space in your group tag.
    Yeah...i feel the same. Any other kind of troubleshooting I can do?
    EDIT
    There wouldn't be any way that I could get the server to log the IP it's trying to send information out on would there? I haven't found a way to get access to the command prompt, so anything with that is out.
    EDIT#2
    Ran another test, this time using the server's FTP IP again. Not sure how it got in this time(because the last time I tried this it bounced) but I got this in the log: ALIVE_SYS_DATA START PLUGIN: ["StartALiVE","OK","Performance Monitor: Disabled"]
    I'm assuming that, since it didn't bounce me with the error, I at least was able to get it to connect to the War Room. We are unable to get the mission to be persistent now, but at least we have it connecting to the war room.
    #debug von
    Then check the server.log
  20. my solution for nitrado was somthing like that
    do
    #debug von
    as admin in game
    then check the IP in server_console_xxxx.log
    try this IP in the war room server settings and restart mission and check aliveserver log again
    for me this IP solved the problem ( btw at nitrado this IP is not equal to the armaserverIP and ftpIP)
